Lower Namekagen Ovenight Trip
Author Last Post
Good morning oh purest of water paddlers. Saturday is the Lower Namekagen Ovenight Trip and I want to remind you all that if you want to go on this one you need to register by Friday (6/16/2017).

We will be meeting at the Hallie Wal-Mart at 8 am Saturday morning and from there we will convoy to the put-in spot near Trego. The river will take us through some very pretty country side. I checked water levels last night and it looks good for a safe and serene trip. We should be back in Eau Claire by 6 pm Sunday.

Things to bring along:
1) Your water craft, paddle, and pfd
2) Your tent, food, and other sleeping/camping gear (This is an overnight trip where you will have to be self-supplied.)
3) Mosquito repellant!! With the rain we've had recently, there should ba a bumper crop of our buzzy cousins to keep us company.
4) Water or a filter. There are no wells or fresh water supplies at the campsites from which we'll choose.
5) Sun screen
6) Fishing gear if you like to fish: We'll be on a river that can be very good for bass and other northern species.
7) A roll of toilet paper, preferably in a sealed and water-tight container.

The river water is suitable for filtered use. You should expect to use a latrine that is not in an enclosure and that has no toilet paper. They are vault stools that are exposed to the woods, but back far enough to be unseen from camp. The campsites on this stretch of river are primitive, with a fire ring and no other resources. I do not know whether there is cell reception.

It is worth noting that the Namekagon River is beautiful, safe, practically development-free, and abounding in wildlife. It's one of my favorites.

If you have questions, I will be at the social paddle and meeting tonight. You can also email me at stepheconnelly@gmail.com.
