Chippewa River Aug 4
Author Last Post
Hi Chippewa Paddlers,
The weather forecast for Exeland is worsening for tomorrow afternoon. We'll keep an eye on it, and if anyone's uncomfortable with the chance of storms in the morning, we may change to a closer lake paddle to avoid getting caught far from the cars.

Hi Paddlers,

If you're not signed up for tomorrow's Chip trip, please do, so we know if and where you'll be meeting us. Meet at the Hallie Walmart at 8 AM, where you can pick up last-minute supplies, etc. We'll head out at 8:30.

The river is running at about 80% of normal flow for this time of year, and this stretch is pretty rocky, so plastic boats are strongly advised.

There is a 20% chance of isolated storms around 3 PM, so bring a rain jacket.

We had a lot of fun on this section last year. There's nothing too challenging, but the frequent boulders call for attentiveness. Other hazards to consider: mosquitoes and poison ivy at the landings.

See you tomorrow!
